Manpower France President Françoise Gri to Receive Chevalier de l'Ordre National de la Légion d'Honneur Medal
PARIS, FRANCE (January 29, 2009) Françoise Gri, President of Manpower France, is to be presented with the Chevalier de l'Ordre National de la Légion d'Honneur by former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, also Senator for the Vienne department and chairman of the "France-Etats-Unis" and "France-Québec" friendship groups of the French National Assembly. The ceremony takes place tonight in Paris, and will be attended by business leaders and government officials.
"Françoise's recognition among the other winners of this prestigious award underscores her significant accomplishments as President of Manpower's largest and most influential single business market." said Jeff Joerres, Manpower Inc. Chairman and CEO. "We are delighted to see Françoise recognized among so many distinguished French leaders."
Gri received the Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur (Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honor) in February in recognition of her achievements as a leading businesswoman. Gri was appointed President of Manpower France in March 2007, after 26 years at IBM France, where she held various management positions from 2001 to 2007. The distinction also reflects her ongoing, daily commitment to promoting employment in France.
In 2003, Gri received the Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite (Order of Chivalry) from the then French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin.
In 2008, she was named one of FORTUNE magazine's 50 most powerful women in international business ("The Global Power 50") for the fifth consecutive year.
Françoise Gri is a member of the Ethics Committee of the French Business Movement MEDEF and sits on the board of directors at top engineering school the Ecole Centrale Paris. She is also Vice President of France's FACE foundation (Foundation for Action to Combat Exclusion). In May, Gri was appointed Director of STX France Cruise SA, a South Korean shipbuilding company based in France.
